Lea Hall – Local Academy Council (LAC)
Members of the Lea Hall Local Academy Council (LAC)
Headteacher: Melanie Keating
I decided to become a teacher because I wanted to make a difference! My dedication and passion sit firmly within SEND and I have deep rooted commitment and interest in social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH).
I have had a rich and varied career which has provided me with lots of opportunities to work in creative and psychologically sound ways with some of the hardest to reach children within the West Midlands. I have been a school leader for over 14 years.
I am honoured to be part of Forward Education Trust as Head Teacher of Lea Hall Academy. As Head Teacher I am proud of the devotedness and skill within our staff group.
I look forward to working with our Local Academy Council to lead Lea Hall Academy on this exciting journey.
Chair: Roz Marston
I am an experienced school leader, having worked in mainstream primary and secondary schools, as well as a special school, over the past 15 years. Prior to this I worked in industry and commerce at a senior managerial level, leading predominately on Finance, HR, Procurement and Health & Safety. I also bring experience as a Governor, having served as Chair of Staffing for an Essex school over an eight-year period.
I was privileged to be asked to join the LAC in November 2021 and look forward to getting to know and working with both Lea Hall Academy and the Trust on its journey to becoming an outstanding provision.
I previously worked as a social worker and regularly visited schools as part of the role. I bring knowledge of guidance and policy on keeping children safe from harm and the importance of information sharing and working together. The welfare of children is my passion and I wanted to continue to provide a service that would benefit children.
I am a corporate Solicitor with a genuine interest in education and I have in the past volunteered as a Geography mentor through The Access Project. I wanted to join the LAC as I am keen to support the school and local community. I am really looking forward to getting to know more about the school and bringing a different perspective to the discussions and questions.
